OCDC Board Discusses Workforce Development

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Orangeburg County Development Commission held its annual board retreat on January 27th. During the lunch session the board hosted a panel discussion with officials from Orangeburg County Consolidated School Districts 3,4,5, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College, and the SC Department of Education and Workforce. The main focus of the panel discussion was the benefit of Orangeburg County becoming a Work Ready Certified com-munity. In the fall of 2014, Governor Haley spoke at an Orangeburg County Chamber event and challenged the commu-nity to become work ready certified, and the panel feels that the community needs to take the steps needed to become certified.
